Segments of an interview with Johnny Kendrick, in conversation with Te Arai Kete member and local biogeographer Chris Wild in 2011. Topics include Johnny's  first encounter with the golden sandhills that once covered a vast area from Pakiri to Te Arai (currently in pine plantation).  Also his time with wildlife photographer and legend Geoff Moon, who in the 1950s worked as a vet for the Rodney Dairy Company. In 1958 Johnny and Geoff took video footage of three tern colonies.  At a site just south of Te Arai Point, they recorded the nesting behaviours of Fairy, Caspian and White Fronted terns.
